I hereby sign up to Warranty Direct's Green Motoring Charter and pledge to try wherever possible to reduce my motoring CO2 emmissions output by driving in a more environmentally-friendly way.

To limit the impact of my personal motoring on the environment, I will try, wherever and whenever possible to:

• drive as smoothly as possible, anticipating traffic lights and avoiding the need for stop/start driving by remaining in higher gears
• avoid harsh acceleration and braking situations, as high engine speeds use more fuel and increase emissions
• switch off my engine in stationary situations where it is safe to do so in order to avoid idling
• check that my tyre pressures are correct to avoid increasing the rolling resistance of my car, and thus improve fuel economy
• remove all unnecessary weight on my car, such as roof racks and boxes, which increase drag and fuel consumption
• avoid short journeys, which don't allow my engine to warm up enough to be fuel-efficient
• avoid using air conditioning too often, as well as other on-board electrical devices such as mobile phone chargers, all of which increase fuel consumption
• stick to the speed limits to reduce fuel consumption and be safe
• keep my car properly serviced as per the manufacturer's recommendations so it is as efficient as it can be
• use high-quality fuels and oils that clean my car's engine and reduce emissions
